The woman from New York City who went missing after being last seen on the subway on New Year’s Eve has been found safe, according to police. Police said Adamaruis Garcia, 21, returned home “in good health and condition” on Thursday, five days after she went missing.
Adamaruis was last seen on a northbound N train at Queensboro Plaza station in Queens on December 31 at 11:15 p.m. She was wearing a skintight black long-sleeved dress and Nike high-top sneakers the night she went missing. Her mother reported her disappearance to the police. Adamaruis reportedly had been working at a Manhattan restaurant until 9 p.m. on the night she vanished.
A family member revealed that Adamaruis went to her job at Rue 57, a restaurant in Manhattan, from noon to 9 p.m. on Saturday, as usual. Adamaruis, whom her uncle refers to as “Yuri,” hung out with friends after work and then returned home with a coworker, he claims.
Her cousin, Jessenia Robles, previously stated that before she vanished, she spoke with her boyfriend and made plans to meet at her Queens home. Robles, from Pennsylvania, traveled to Queens to assist in the search for Adamaruis, and distributed missing person fliers throughout the city on Wednesday. Her failure to contact her family was “very out of character,” she said.
There was no further explanation given as to where she was while she was missing.
