The victim who was reportedly beheaded on Thursday in Bay Area has been identified as 27-year-old Karina Castro, reports said. She had two daughters, aged seven and one, and had received her General Educational Development (GED) from Menlo-Atherton High School. She was a DoorDash driver at the time of her demise.
The grieving father of the deceased woman said that he “would beg” his daughter to “leave” her ex-boyfriend, the suspect. But he felt that it was like the more said that, “the more she would see him.” He advised fathers to take responsibility in spite of criticism and not to take a “no” from their daughters if one is being assaulted, anywhere.
Responding to an alarm reportedly raised by the neighbors, police arrived on the site and discovered a dead woman. Authorities stated that the suspect, Jose Landaeta Solano, also known as Rafa Solano, returned to the location and was apprehended for her murder. According to reports, he has been identified as Karina’s ex-boyfriend and the father of her 1-year-old. There was a restraining order against Landaeta in April, but Karina continued to see him.

The victim’s grandmother Danielle Gannon, echoed Karina’s father’s feelings. She called Karina “an amazing woman,” but said she was very stubborn, and was determined to bring up her daughters “on her own.” She claimed that Landaeta battled alcoholism and mental health problems. He is taking medication for his schizophrenia and would cite that as justification for his actions. She also revealed that he was an excessive drinker, which is prohibited while on such medication.
Snapchat communications between Karina and the suspect revealed that she had threatened to reveal his supposed relationship with another man. According to the site, they later got into a fight outside of her house. After becoming quite enraged, he went to his car’s trunk, pulled out whatever it was, and murdered her right there, behind her vehicle, reports said.
The family is also battling for the return of Karina’s two girls, who were taken away by the authorities after she was killed. Marty told the television station that he also tried to get Karina’s dog and two cats, which were found inside her home, by contacting animal control.
On Monday, Landaeta will be charged. A GoFundMe created for Karina revealed that she was “tragically beheaded,” and her family was heartbroken by the “gruesome murder.” Of its $25,000 target, the page had already raised more than $12,600 as of Friday night.
