A woman in Florida was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly having sex with her dog, local authorities said, while her ex-boyfriend faces charges for filming it all and storing it on a hard drive. According to an arrest report shared by the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, Christina Calello, ‘willingly engaged in sexual activity with the dog’ several times over the course of nearly eight years.
The couple was arrested and charged with animal sexual activity at the Pinellas County Jail. Deputies took the dog, which had no visible injuries, to an animal hospital for a routine examination. Police did not reveal the nature of the sexual acts. The New York Post broke the story first.
Calello, a New Jersey native living in Florida, was released after posting a $5,000 bond, according to county jail records. In May, Calello was arrested and charged with domestic battery. Springer was also granted his release on his own recognizance. They were then arrested and taken to the Pinellas County Jail. According to county jail records Calello, who is from New Jersey but resides in Safety Harbor, has since been released after posting a $5,000 bond.
The 39-year-old Springer, who has no prior arrests, was released on his own recognisance and without bail. As of Thursday, no court date had been set for the couple. Bestiality is classified as a first-degree misdemeanor in Florida, with penalties including up to a year in prison. According to the law firm Muscala Law, offenders must also pay a $1,000 fine.
