Winter storm pummels Texas with subzero temperatures killing 12. Millions of people have been left without power through the coldest temperatures in Texas in the aftermath of storm Yuri . This is a historic arctic blast that has rolled through Texas. It has not been this cold in Texas for decades.
Some were left without water for over 24 hours as water treatment plants shut down. Residents were told to boil their water before using it. Temperatures dropped below freezing into the single digits. snow and ice blanketed the roads.
The weather has affected other areas of the South and the mid-Atlantic and Northeast, leaving businesses without power Tuesday morning. It’s been reported that in Texas 4,000,000 still are without electricity as of Tuesday morning.
The Texas utility company had warned resident be prepared for extended outages due to the weather conditions.
More than 158,000 homes and businesses in Louisiana still had no power Tuesday morning, according to poweroutage.us. West Virginia had more than 100,000 outages, the state of Kentucky reported nearly 146,000 outages.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency s have requested 60 generators from the agency and the priority for their use will be hospitals and nursing homes.
