Celebrity Denzel Washington, along with Tyler Perry had helped Will Smith deal with the aftermath of the unfortunate incident that took place at the Oscars 2022. The 67-year old celebrity said on Saturday that they had prayed along with Will Smith. Smith had slapped comedian Chris Rock on stage for cracking a joke on his wife Jada Pinkett Smith’s hair style. The actor apologized as he received Best Actor award for his performance in “King Richard,” a short while after the incident.
Denzel Washington spoke about the incident, which has been termed as “slapgate” by the press, when he appeared at the International Leadership Summit by author and bishop–T.D. Jakes. Washington told Jake that Tyler Perry had come “immediately right over there with me.” He mentioned that he didn’t want to talk about what was said but said that they had said some prayers.
Washington also asked, “Who are we to condemn?” He added that he did not know the “ins and outs of the situation” but he knew that “the only solution was prayer” and that was the way he saw it.

The veteran actor of Hollywood said that there wasn’t an option for him to remain in his seat and not console Smith. He added, “That’s just not who I am.”
When Will Smith returned on stage to accept his Oscar award, he apologized and also thanked Washington who had told him to be careful at his “highest moment” as that was “when the devil comes for you.”

A Hollywood insider told The Sun that Smith will be moving to a high-end retreat to do a lot of “soul searching” and to work out how he will move forward.
According to the Hollywood Reporter two of Smith’s major projects: upcoming Netflix film “Fast and Loose” as well as Sony’s “Bad Boys 4” are now on hold. However, Emancipation an Apple TV+ film is expected to be released in 2022.
