However, he was let go by the studio after his public divorce trial with celebrity ex-wife Amber Heard. Last year, he strongly denied returning to the franchise. Recently, Sean Bailey, the president of Disney suggested that the franchise would be revived and left an opening for Johnny Depp to enter the franchise. If he comes back as Jack Sparrow web fans will be ecstatic.
Bailey, the president of Disney Studio Motion Picture Production hinted at restarting the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise in a recent interview with the New York Times.
According to NYT, Bailey said, “We think we have a really good, exciting story that honors the films that have come before but also has something new to say.”

The outlet also asked him if Johnny Depp would return to the franchise and he replied, “Noncommittal at this point,” as he seemingly suggested that it could be a future possibility.
The Pirates of the Caribbean films are among the most popular ones by Disney. In 2020, the studio had announced a spinoff with Margot Robbie. However, the movie was scrapped by the end of 2022. Now, it looks like there will be a revival.
Franchise producer Jerry Bruckheimer has said that there would be two spinoffs, one which would be with celebrity Margot Robbie, who is currently playing Barbie in the much-anticipated film to be released this July and the second one would have a younger cast.
When celebrity Johnny Depp was facing a boycott by many due to the adverse publicity of his publicly fought divorce with Amber Heard, Bruckheimer had extended support by saying that Depp was a “friend” as well as a “terrific actor” and that it was “unfortunate” that “personal lives” crept into everything they did.
