The Glazers, owners of English Football Club Manchester United, are reportedly exploring a sale of the club. After 17 years of controversial rule, the family has finally announced that they had decided to sell the club, last month. They reportedly want a high price between six to seven billion pounds. They are also looking to finalize the sale by the first quarter of 2023. Amazon is reportedly the latest company that might throw in a bid for the Red Devils.

The Glazers took over the club in 2005. Initially the club performed well but later fell below many other football clubs in the nation. It was reported that the Glazer family appointed investment firm Raine Group to oversee the sale. Experts say that they have overpriced the worth and Manchester United has a value of about £2.425 billion, according to Football Benchmark.

Under Sir Alex Ferguson, the Red Devils brought home many trophies to Old Trafford. However, after his retirement, the club has been sliding and the fans have been clamoring for the Glazer family to sell the club to someone who will restore it to some if not all of its former glory.

The Athletic reported that Amazon could be a possible buyer of Man United. The company, founded by Jeff Bezos, is already involved in broadcasting some Premier league matches. Acquiring a prestigious club could be another step forward.

In a statement to the outlet, a spokesperson of the company said, “Amazon declined to comment on rumor and speculation.”

Earlier, it was rumored that Apple was looking to buy the club but the tech giant also indicated that it was not interested in the deal. Fans are very excited.

Other potential bidders include Sir Jim Ratcliffe the richest man in Britain, who is said to be a lifelong Man United fan and Amancio Ortega, who is the owner of Zara.
