Although Sam Bankman-Fried has been in the news these past few weeks after the colossal collapse of crypto exchange FTX, other prominent players and team members in the mix have received little one or no attention. One such member Ryan Salame, who is a co-founder of FTX has reportedly been a whistle blower, a major GOP donor, a restaurateur, a condo owner qualified financial expert and a co-founder of FTX.
After he reportedly spoke of diversion of clients’ funds from FTX to Alameda Research, few reports have emerged about Ryan Salame, mainly dealing with his tips about the dealings at FTX. Before he tipped the authorities in early November, earlier in August, Salame spoke very highly of SBF.
Ryan Salame might be investigated as he has also availed a $55 million personal loan from Alameda Research, the trading arm, whose losses were covered by transfers from the FTX marketplace.
Ryan Salame has a master’s in finance from Georgetown University. He briefly worked with giant accounting firm EY. He is a co-founder of FTX. He was a primary point of contact between FTX exchange and the Bahamian authorities.
Ryan Salame has reportedly bought quite a few restaurants and eateries in Lenox. He reportedly bought several condos in Texas, together with Ryan Vandervoort, The 29-year old told the outlet to contact Salame if they were “interested in any information of his business” and that he did not want to comment on his relationship with Salame.
The New York Times reported that a person who knows him said that Salame joined the crypto company to make a lot of money as he enjoyed a luxurious life that included flying on private jets, owning expensive cars and partying hard, unlike the SBF and his inner circle’s so called commitment to “effective altruism,” as SBF and others also bought luxurious properties.
Ryan Salame donated $24 million to the Republicans, during the midterms. These funds were given to candidates and committees. Sam Bankman-Fried reportedly gave $40 million to the Democrats. FTX founder SBF and co-founder Ryan Salame were reportedly bipartisan in donating funds to the two political parties in the U.S. He also reportedly bankrolled his girlfriend Michelle Bond’s campaign, in Suffolk County, New York. Bond, who is an ardent supporter of former president Donald Trump, was unsuccessful. Fans of crypto are watching the verdicts.
Neither Salame nor his lawyer responded when asked for comment by the NYT.
