Warner Bros. Discovery Inc. (WBD) recently acquired a new games studio. Warner Bros. Games has added Player First Games to its portfolio. The studio has developed the free-to-play platform fighter game Multiversus. Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) said that the co-founders of Players First Games will continue to run the studio but will now report to the head of Warner Bros. Games San Diego.

Warner Bros. Games announced its acquisition of Player First Games just before season two of Multiversus began. In the second season, they introduced a rank mode and new fighters like Samurai Jack and Beetlejuice.

The first season introduced a long roster of players from Warner Bros. library, some of which include
Superman
Joker
Batman
Harley Quinn
Jason Vorhees
Gizmo from Gremlins
Agent Smith from The Matrix
Arya Stark from Game of Thrones
Bugs Bunny
Tom and Jerry
Shaggy and more.

Warner Bros. already publishes Multiversus. Its acquisition will create better synergy between the developer team and the publisher. In a press release, Warner Bros. said that co-founders Tony Huynh, head of Player First Games, and Chris White, head of technology, will continue to run the studio but will also report to Carlos Barbosa, who is the studio head and vice president of Warner Bros. Games San Diego.

Warner Bros. Games president David Haddad said that they had worked with Player First Games for many years “to create and launch ‘Multiversus’” and that they were pleased to welcome the studio to their portfolio of games, and that the team at Player First Games added value to their portfolio and more.

Tony Huynh of Player First Games said their team was “excited” to join the Warner Bros. Games family and that integrating their development team with the publisher was “optimum for the players.”

The online game Multiversus, which features an ever-expanding number of popular characters based on Warner Bros. Discovery franchises, is available on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One consoles, and PC.
