Fred Segal Yelp

An iconic brand has closed its last two remaining locations in Los Angeles. The brand, which has been a favorite with celebrity stars and featured in movies and TV shows, has been a part of the LA landscape for more than six decades. The brand is still registered, but its website and online store are not in operation. There is hope the brand will be revitalized in the future. Its home furnishings store remains open.

Fred Segal has closed its remaining two locations in Los Angeles. The West Hollywood and Malibu stores were closed on Tuesday. This is an end to the iconic brand that has been around for more than 60 years in California and was a favorite of celebrity stars from Hollywood. However, the Segal family attorney told local news outlets that they hoped to revive the brand with a new operator.

OrganicGreek.com

Many celebrity Hollywood stars have been seen on LA streets carrying the brand’s iconic bags. Some of them include Nicole Kidman, Jennifer Aniston, Diana Ross, Dom Gabriel, Machine Gun Kelly, and many others.

In 1961, Fred Segal moved his denim store, Pants America, to West Hollywood. He renamed it using his own name and expanded the number of locations nationwide. He also opened international outlets in Switzerland, Europe, and Taipei, Taiwan.

Fred Segal stores carried its brand label as well as other popular ones. There were nine locations in the Golden State and a few international ones.

Fred Segal sold the brand to Global Icons in 2019. The brand lost value during the pandemic as many retailers struggled to stay afloat.

The Fred Segal brand has been featured in several films and TV shows, including Clueless, Dawson’s Creek, and Beverly Hills 90210.
