Apple Inc. rarely speaks of products that are in the developmental stage. However, this does not stop a whole bunch of analysts predicting new products. One of the future products that had dominated the rumor mills was an Augmented Reality/Virtual Reality (AR/VR) headset from the Cupertino giant. Mark Gurman, recently reported in Bloomberg that the launch of this headset has been delayed and could take place in 2023.
The tech pioneer, Apple has not even acknowledged the possibility of debuting AR/VR headsets anytime but reports indicate that there are around 2,000 employees working on this project. Reports also say that some of them left the project to join Meta (Facebook), a social media giant who is investing huge amounts in similar projects and the metaverse.
There is a different story among analysts. The outlet said that the headset could be delayed to 2023. Earlier, it was rumored to be launched at WWDC this year and shipped by the end of the year. Now, reports say that it could debut by WWDC 2023 in some form or the other.
The report also says that the device will have two chips, one of which could be similar to the M1 pro seen in MacBook Pro devices. One of the reasons for the delay is reportedly overheating of the chips and it is known that the M1 chip has high thermal demands.
Apple had reportedly told supply chain partners that its newest headset would be released in 2023 though it has asked them to prepare for a late 2022 launch. The AR/VR headset is supposed to be a standalone product and will reportedly cost around $2000.
The headset will run on iOS 16, according to rumors and its code name is supposed to be “Oak.” The future iOS 16 is internally called “Sydney,” according to reports.
As analysts write, debate and start websites on Apple products based on rumors as well as information from anonymous sources from Apple Inc., the Cupertino giant maintains its silence and consumers build up their eagerness to obtain the next product from Apple.
