Analysts at Oppenheimer shared their outlook on Costco Wholesale Corporation (NASDAQ:COST) ahead of the company’s upcoming Q3 earnings results, expected to be released on May 26. Following cost pressures highlighted by Sam’s Club, Target, and BJ’s, the analysts spent time revisiting their upside case.
Costco’s shares lost around 25% since the start of the year. The analysts attribute this to margin concerns and a re-rating of growth names. For Q3, Street estimates appear achievable to the analysts. However, on a go-forward basis, they are trimming their forecasts to reflect increased supply-chain costs that could weigh more meaningfully on at least Q4 with headwinds likely lingering into 2023. Their price target moves to $500 from $645, while the outperform rating is maintained.
