Billionaire and Tesla CEO Elon Musk recently took to social media to announce that he drove the new Tesla-produced Cybertruck around Austin, Texas. This comes after a Tesla Cybertruck prototype was spotted driving for the first time in California in June. Since its initial unveiling in 2019, the start date for production has been constantly shifting, while web fans wait in anticipation.

The billionaire revealed that the revolutionary electric pickup truck, the Cybertruck, will be manufactured at a new Gigafactory in Austin, Texas, along with the production of the Semi. He also shared that the Cybertruck will be available with three battery ranges, from “250-plus” to over 500 miles on a single charge. Tesla aims to offer an aggressive starting price just below $40,000, with seating for six. However, some modifications will need to be made for the production version.
Despite this recent development, Musk has driven a Cybertruck in Texas before. In May, he arrived at the groundbreaking ceremony of Tesla’s Texas lithium refinery behind the wheel of a Cybertruck prototype. However, it seems that the vehicle encountered some difficulties as a social media user later alleged that it got stuck in a field.

The Cybertruck has garnered significant attention from web fans as one of the most highly anticipated electric vehicle programs set to launch this year. With 1.5 million reservation holders and web fans eagerly awaiting news of deliveries and production volumes, the Cybertruck’s progress is closely followed. Tesla has been conducting winter testing in New Zealand, including drifting on ice and testing suspension, indicating its progress towards production. Suppliers have been informed to be prepared for Cybertruck release candidates by late August, with production expected to commence in early October.
During Tesla’s annual shareholder meeting, Musk expressed his confidence in the Cybertruck, stating that it exceeded expectations and will be his vehicle of choice for daily use. A delivery event is scheduled for later this year. Analysts anticipate significant demand, with Musk predicting annual sales of 250,000 to 500,000 Cybertrucks once production is fully ramped up. With Tesla’s commitment to innovation and the growing excitement among web fans surrounding the Cybertruck, the electric pickup truck is poised to make a significant impact on the automotive industry.
