The royal family posted a new portrait of King Charles, Queen Camilla, Prince William, and Prince Edward wearing robes of the Order of the Thistle. The monarch bestowed this prestigious Scottish honor on Queen Camilla and Prince Edward, and other personalities also received honors. Many web fans expressed their appreciation for the royal family.
On July 3, members of the royal family took part in the Order of the Thistle Service. The greatest order of chivalry in Scotland took place at the St. Giles Cathedral in Edinburgh. This service was part of the Royal Week in Scotland.
The 75-year-old monarch has been part of this highest Scottish order since 1977, while Prince William received the honor in 2012. Queen Camilla and Prince Edward were bestowed with the honor in the recent ceremony, and the royal family’s social media accounts, as well as the Prince and Princess of Wales, released the official portrait of the royal family members.
The royal family members wore the robes of the Order of the Thistle, which included green velvet robes featuring the order’s insignia— the thistle. They also wore white plumed hats. Queen Camilla wore an elegant pair of studs.
Princess Anne was missing from the portrait as she was recovering from a recent fall. She suffered a concussion and is resting. Princess Catherine was also missing from the photo as she did not attend the event. Kate Middleton has cut down her public appearances after she was diagnosed with cancer. She last appeared in public at the Trooping of the Colour.
Earlier on June 29, a new photo of King Charles was released on Armed Forces Day. The monarch was dressed in his Field Marshall No. 1 Full Ceremonial Frock Coat with medals and decorations.
The United Kingdom recognizes personnel, families, veterans, and cadets on Armed Forces Day. King Charles and Queen Camilla visited Normandy on June 6, 2024, to mark the 80th anniversary of D-Day.
