A 70-year-old CEO Curtiss E. Jackson of a shipbuilding company in the island state of Hawaii was nabbed as he tried to flee the island of Oahu. Photographers captured his dramatic arrest on one of his boats. He had earlier been arrested and tried to evade an upcoming court appearance in a fully fueled boat that also had supplies and cash. He had earlier been charged with several counts of fraud.

On January 4, Pretrial Services, which is a federal pretrial agency, was tipped off on a plan by Jackson; to flee the Hawaiian island before his trial. The US Marshals and the US Coast Guard were alerted and they nabbed the fugitive CEO Curtiss E. Jackson, of Semisub Inc., early on Friday morning. He had been arrested in October on fraud charges including securities fraud, mail fraud, wire fraud and conspiracy.

The entire incident unfolded like a movie plot. Hawaii News Now reported the news. Jackson, the CEO of a company called Semisub Inc. sailed away, alone, on Wednesday after dismissing the entire crew. He was scheduled for a hearing on Thursday. After he fled the island, a federal warrant for his arrest was released and Jackson was classified as a fugitive.

Early Friday morning, around 2 a.m., Jackson’s boat was located by the authorities, near Barber’s point, according to the outlet. He was arrested at sea. He was arrested without a struggle, by Coast Guard patrol boats, which had deputy US Marshals on board.

Other reports said that the boat contained fuel, food and about $30,000 in cash. Reports also mentioned that were discarded uniforms of crew members on the boat.

Curtiss S. Jackson and his business partner and wife Jamey Denise Jackson, 59 have been accused of defrauding investors who put in money in their company Semisub Inc. They had reportedly misused roughly $30 million that was collected from over 400 investors.

Curtiss Jackson could see additional charges against him, after his dramatic action. He is being held in the Honolulu Detention Center. The 70-year-old CEO is scheduled to appear in court, on Tuesday.
