This week, Uber Eats (UBER) introduced a new “View as Delivery Person” function to address any uncomfortable encounters or issues consumers might be experiencing with their delivery driver. Customers will now be able to view what personal data and information their driver has access to at each stage of the delivery process thanks to the new feature.
When consumers place an order on the app, Uber Eats will display to them how much of their personal information is shared with their delivery person. The “View as Delivery Person” function is intended to increase transparency when ordering food through the app.
The feature will display the amount of your personal information which is disclosed to your courier at each stage of the delivery process. When you request a delivery, the courier will see your approximate delivery location. When the courier arrives, they will see your first and last name, as well as your exact delivery location and any notes you make on the app.
Your I.D will be seen by the delivery driver for any alcohol ordered. Uber Eats says, when you order alcohol, the delivery person verifies that you are of legal age by scanning your ID. Your ID information is not viewable by the delivery person after delivery. The scan of your ID is deleted after 72 hours.

When you choose Leave at Door, your delivery person uses the Uber app to take a photo to confirm the delivery. The delivery person will not have access to the photo after delivery. This photo is never stored, and is deleted when the delivery person closes their app.

Your payment method, phone number, rating, profile photo, or last name are never shared with your delivery person if no alcohol is ordered.
