On Saturday night, hundreds of adolescents descended upon Downtown Chicago, breaking windows of passing vehicles and attempting to enter Millennium Park. This led to a significant police response. An automobile attack involved at least one passenger. A woman whose car’s windscreen was broken by individuals leaping on it said her husband had been beaten while he was behind the wheel.
Tourists and others were being escorted by police back to their vehicles in the Millennium Park garage. Near the intersection of Madison and Michigan, shots were fired. In the throngs in the first block of East Washington Street, two teenagers were shot and injured. Two boys, ages 16 and 17, were transported in fair condition with gunshot wounds to Northwestern Memorial Hospital.

The CTA said that Saturday night’s police operations caused some service through the downtown area to be affected.
Nine adults and six kids were detained, according to Chicago police. Most were accused of acting carelessly. Two persons were charged with possessing a stolen vehicle, while a 16-year-old kid was accused of using a weapon unlawfully

This is the second occasion this weekend that a raucous bunch of teens has called the police. A 14-year-old was shot as hundreds of kids were at 31st Avenue Beach on Friday night. Brandon Johnson, the incoming mayor of Chicago, stated that the city needed a “comprehensive approach to improve public safety.”
Johnson issued a statement condemning their disruptive activities in the Loop and lakefront. Outgoing Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot stated that parents must impart good values in their children in a statement made public on Sunday.
