A San Francisco home explosion causes massive damage to a home. Firefighters are on the scene between Noriega and Moraga, at 1734 22nd Avenue, in the Sunset area of San Francisco there was an explosion. Before 9:30 a.m., the fire was reported.
According to SFFD, a fireman was taken to a hospital with minor injuries.
The explosion, said to fire chief Jeanine Nicholson, was “very, really powerful” and entirely blew the house off its foundation. Sky7 from KGO-TV views from the scene demonstrate how the house appears to have imploded, with all of the walls falling down. She adds that it also caused damage to and destruction of the house to the right and left of it. Both of the next-door residences were thoroughly searched, but nobody was discovered there.

According to Chief Nicholson, the explosion shattered doors, windows, and automobile windows on both sides of the roadway.

From as far out as 20 blocks away, neighbors claimed they heard the explosion and felt their homes tremble. All residents in the 1700 block of 22nd Ave. are sheltering in place, and between 1730 and 1750, there are evacuation orders in effect.
It’s been at least 25 years there has been an explosion of this kind in San Francisco.
