Robert F. Kennedy, who ran as an independent candidate during the 2024 presidential election, later withdrew from the race and endorsed Donald Trump. He actively campaigned in support of Trump, championing the slogan Make America Healthy Again.
As the head of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Kennedy will oversee a vast array of health programs. The department, which receives over 20% of the federal budget, allocates significant funding to various health-related initiatives. Currently, HHS operates with a budget nearing $2 trillion and employs approximately 90,000 staff members.
Among the major programs under HHS are Medicare and Medicaid, which provide health coverage to hundreds of millions of Americans. According to recent data, more than 150 million Americans are enrolled in either Medicare or Medicaid.
In his role as Health Secretary, Kennedy will also lead key agencies such as the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). These agencies play a critical role in funding and advancing research on medicines, vaccines, food safety, and more.
Often referred to as RFK, Robert F. Kennedy has previously emphasized that addressing obesity in the United States and reducing the production of ultra-processed foods are among his top priorities.
Brooke Rollins, who was confirmed with bipartisan support, will now lead the Department of Agriculture. Having grown up on a farm, Rollins brings firsthand experience and knowledge to the role. Her initial focus will be on lowering egg prices and managing other key agricultural programs, as outlined by the White House.
