King Charles III will officially be coronated as the King of the United Kingdom in May, following which his wife Queen Consort Camilla Parker Bowles will be coronated as Queen Camilla. Before this important event, Queen Camilla had been updating her presence on social media.
Members of the literary community were welcomed to Clarence House on Thursday. The 75-year-old Queen Consort invited them to celebrate the second anniversary of The Reading Room. She had founded The Reading Room as a literary initiative. She announced that the initiative had now been established as a charity and a new page for the initiative had been launched on Thursday.

Queen Camilla was joined by King Charles at the Thursday event. She returned to public duties that day after several events were canceled after she tested positive for the coronavirus on February 13, according to an announcement by Buckingham Palace.
In her speech, Queen Camilla spoke of how The Reading Room began with a list of nine of her favorite books during the lockdown. She said that it has become a global community with more than 155,000 people. She noted that it was supported by “internationally renowned men and women of letters as well as thousands of readers.”

She also mentioned that it was a pleasure to welcome all the writers, publishers and book lovers to Clarence House “a week late” but added that she was “COVID-free.” She thanked all of them for “rejigging” their “busy diaries” to attend the Thursday event.
The new page on social media (Twitter) is now called The Queen’s Reading Room. The caption speaks of how the Queen Consort founded the Reading Room to become a charity and a community that helps “people discover new books.” It also promotes content that inspires and educates readers and hopes that accessible content will help to close the gap “between the reader and the writer.”
The Book Club initially made its presence on Instagram and it now has about 159,000 followers. The page has received a makeover and a message, similar to the one posted on Twitter, has been added. The post also says that the Queen’s Reading Room will also be available on Facebook and a website, whose link has also been provided.
