President Joe Biden paid tribute to US servicemen who gave their lives for their country on Monday by visiting Arlington National Cemetery to lay a wreath and deliver his annual Memorial Day message.
Biden addressed the impact of his son’s demise on his well-being.
According to him, the memory can rekindle intense emotional pain. “It has the ability to transport you back to the precise moment when you received that phone call, heard that knock on the door, or held someone’s hand as they took their final breath. I am aware that it causes pain.”
The president stated that although his son did not perish on the battlefield, his death was a direct result of his one-year service in the Iraqi army and his proximity to a burning field.
According to officials, he stated that his administration had approved over one million claims from veterans who were harmed by toxic substances during their military service. These actions were made possible by a new law that he strongly supported.
President Joseph Biden posted a graphic on Monday on social media platform X honoring fallen soldiers.
“Since America’s founding, our service members have laid down their lives for an idea unlike any other: the idea of the United States,” he wrote. “Today, as generations of heroes lie in eternal peace, we live by the light of liberty they kept burning. May God bless them, always.”
