On Thursday, the San Antonio Police Department released a video. It featured two persons of interest who could be involved in a shooting. Last week, a pregnant teen and her boyfriend were reported missing. They were found dead on Tuesday with gunshot wounds.
The police said that 18-year-old Savanah Nicole Soto and her boyfriend 22-year-old Matthew Guerra were found in Guerra’s car. Each of them had a gunshot wound. They were found on Tuesday. Nine months pregnant Soto had been scheduled to be induced to give birth but the couple disappeared a day before.
On Thursday, the medical examiner’s office confirmed that the bodies found in the car were that of Guerra and Soto.
The video posted on social media showed a person of interest who was driving a dark pickup truck and another person driving a car. Police chief Bill McManus said that the pickup was a Chevy Silverado with a bed cover. The other car was a Kia Optima. It belonged to Guerra. McManus did not specify the location of the footage but said that it was “very close to” where the police had found the bodies.
Police chief McManus said that a person of interest was in the pickup truck and he was seen talking to the driver of the Kia Optima that belonged to the victim. He also said that they did not believe that either of the two victims appeared in the video.
On Thursday he said that they had earlier considered the case to be either “as murder-suicide or as a capital-murder investigation.”
The police chief also said, “I think that we have gotten past that point right now unless we get evidence that would lead us to believe otherwise.”
Although Soto’s mother and aunt said that the relationship between Soto and Guerra was abusive, they told CBS News that she was looking forward to the birth of her child and had been counting the days.
Guerra’s father told CBS affiliate KENS that although his son had an assault charge, Soto and Guerra were looking forward to becoming parents.
