On Monday night, a Philadelphia drag performer died mid-performance, at a popular local bar. Valencia Prime was a rising star and a beloved of the LGBTQ community in the Gayborhood. The 25-year old was performing at a famous gay bar called Tabu Lounge and Sports bar, on September 12. The young performer had called herself “Philadelphia’s Plus Size Dancing Diva.”
Although paramedics and emergency services were called to the local bar, a friend said that she was “unresponsive.” The drag queen was immediately taken to Jefferson Hospital. Valencia Prime was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Tabu paid a tribute to the 25-year old celebrity drag queen on social media. The club described Valencia Prime as “a very bright and rising star” who was filled with love and positivity. They mourned her loss and said that she would not be forgotten as she brought “light” to the stage, with her performances, although they had to say goodbye to her

In another post, the local Philadelphia bar said that they had been communicating with the Valencia Prime’s family to get “their blessing and input” for a possible tribute show. The celebrity drag queen’s mother also paid a heartfelt tribute to her young daughter, on Facebook.
Tributes poured in from celebrity stars, performers and educators, both local and national, and some of those who paid tribute to her included:
Ian Morrison (Brittany Lynn)
Asia Monroe
Aloe Vera
Dr. Timaree Schmit
The Medical Examiner has ruled that Valencia Prime’s death was due to natural causes. The plus size model had been suffering from ailments such as obesity, diabetes and heart disease. A GoFundMe Page was launched, on Wednesday, by her fellow performer, Nikita Sinnn Monroe, who’s also her friend.
