Pardoning two fortunate turkeys was President Joe Biden’s yearly White House custom on Monday, his 81st birthday.

The percentage of people who are satisfied with Biden’s economic policies has increased from 41% last month to 44% according to the Harvard CAPS-Harris Poll.

Liberty and Bell, two turkeys from Willmar, Minnesota, were chosen star birds by the National Turkey Federation on Sunday.

During Monday morning’s pardoning ceremony, Biden made a joke about the birds’ names and how they were called after the famed Liberty Bell in Philadelphia, even though Liberty and Bell are from Minnesota. He also said, “These birds have a new appreciation for the word, ‘Let freedom ring.'”

As a family, the Bidens have always celebrated Thanksgiving on Nantucket. During his visit, Biden plans to contact military personnel on Thursday to express his gratitude for their service.

“As many of you know, it’s difficult turning 60,” Mr. Biden quipped when speaking at the same White House celebration, referring to his age. It has been 76 years since this incident took place. I was too young to fabricate anything, and I wanted you to know that.
