King Charles III turned 76 on November 14, 2024. He celebrated the momentous day by opening a food hub in South London. The food distribution center will distribute excess food to people in schools, communities, and food banks. It will utilize food that was to be discarded and make it available where it is needed. The project is called the Coronation Food Project and was launched on his 75th birthday.

King Charles opened the new food bank/hub by cutting a ribbon. He also oversaw the installation of an industrial freezer at the hub. The food bank hosted a food festival that included meals cooked using produce that would have otherwise been thrown out. The meals turned food that would have been wasted into edible food.

The Coronation Food Project is looking to redistribute excess or waste food to food distribution centers that can help decrease and eventually end food insecurity.

Many royal fans lined up to wish King Charles well as he visited the Coronation Food Project Hub at the Deptford Trading Estate on November 14, 2024. On the same day last year, King Charles launched the Coronation Food Project in Didcot.

The Royal Family’s social media page posted videos of the King arriving at the Coronation Food Hub in Deptford. He interacted with some schoolchildren, staff, and volunteers at the hub. The children and staff sang “Happy Birthday” to His Majesty, and he smiled as he accepted a birthday card from one of the students.

King Charles also opened the second Coronation Food Hub virtually. It is located in Merseyside, northwest England.

Prince and Prince of Wales—William and Kate Middleton wished King Charles a happy birthday. They posted a photo of their father-in-law looking festive and summery in a colorful costume with a lei. The photo was taken during his recent trip to Apia, Samoa. This was his first overseas trip after his cancer diagnosis early this year.

According to sources, King Charles will have a quiet, intimate birthday dinner with his family on Thursday evening.
