On Saturday, celebrity hip hop legend Snoop Dogg released a video of his popular track ‘Crip Ya Enthusiasm.’ The unique aspect of the popular track was that it was a collaboration of a virtual performance of the hip hop artist. The collaboration was between the celebrity Web3 pioneer Dogg with Web3 company Astro Project. The Web3 company also made the digital setting in which the video was recorded.
Snoop Dogg’s video is the first music video created on Ethereum blockchain. Dogg’s ‘Crip Ya Enthusiasm’ has been remixed and the recurring theme is seen in the music video produced in Unreal Engine. The celebrity hip hop artist’s video had motion captured from the artist himself. It was recorded at Astro Project’s Portal studio, which is located in Santa Monica, California.
Snoop Dogg avatar strongly resembles comedian Larry David from his dressing style, his glasses style and right down to his hairline. The original Larry David is also familiar with Web3 and appeared in an FTX commercial during the 2022 Super Bowl. It has also been immortalized as a 1-of-1 NFT.
Snoop Dogg’s video on Web3 was launched along with 11,111 digital donuts that were put up by the Astro Project. These donuts serve as digital keys to be used to access assets from the video some of which are 3D models as well as character animations.
Astro Project has added tutorials and guides for donut owners to create their own scenes as well as animations in Unreal Engine. The company also said that the key was in the shape of a donut as it was one of the first images made by a novice 3D artist.
Snoop Dogg has collaborated with Web3 projects in the past. He and celebrity EminEm had performed as NFTs from the Bored Ape Yacht Club collection at the MTV Video Music Awards. The hip hop legend also owns virtual real estate in The Sandbox and has a collection of NFTs and is considered to be a huge virtual influencer. He has now added a Web3 video with the release of ‘Crip Ya Enthusiasm’ in blockchain Ethereum in collaboration with the Astro Project.
