A man allegedly grabbed and pinned a woman to the ground while she was working out in a Florida gym. Nashali Alma, a Tampa resident who was exercising at a fitness center at the Inwood Park Apartment Complex in Tampa, was captured on camera on January 22 fending off an assailant. She is seen in the video working out when the attacker, 25-year-old Xavier Thomas-Jones, approaches her. The woman, a self-described bodybuilder, continued to fight back.

According to reports, Nashali Alma pushed Thomas-Jones away and then tried to call 911 while keeping a distance between them. Thomas-Jones allegedly pursued her and attempted to seize her phone in an effort to stop her.
On February 15, a month after Alma reported the attack at an apartment complex in the Tampa area, deputies released the video. The 24-year-old claimed that the man approached her and made contact with her. Alma allegedly continued to strike the suspect as he tackled her to the ground as the suspect grabbed her once more. She tried to call the police as he held her down but managed to escape his hold. Alma eventually ran out and took refuge in another apartment of the complex.
In an interview with Inside Edition, she claimed that while working out by herself in the gym, she noticed the suspect trying to enter.

She had seen him exercising, so she had no problem letting him in. But she claimed that he quickly turned hostile.
Within 24 hours of the incident, Xavier Thomas-Jones was arrested, reports said. He allegedly confessed to police that he had attacked a second woman just before being apprehended. He is accused of assault as well as burglary, kidnapping, and false imprisonment.
