El Chapo’s son Ovidio Guzman-Lopez, the most notorious drug lord in the world, was arrested in an overnight raid.
The Associated Press reported that Ovidio Guzmán, the son of known Sinaloa Cartel boss Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzmán Loera, was apprehended by Mexican security agents during a nighttime operation in Culiacán in northwestern Mexico on Thursday.
Ovidio Guzmán-López is the son of former Sinaloa Cartel boss Joaqun Guzmán-Loera and a high-ranking member of the Sinaloa Cartel. According to law enforcement investigations, Ovidio and his brother, Joaqun Guzmán-López, operate their own drug trafficking organization, the Guzmán-López Transnational Criminal Organization, under the umbrella of the Sinaloa Cartel. The Guzmán-López brothers got their start in narcotics trafficking by inheriting ties from their late brother, Edgar Guzmán-López.

Following Edgar’s death, Ovidio and Joaqun received a substantial portion of the drug revenues and began investing enormous sums of money in the purchase of marijuana in Mexico and cocaine in Colombia. As they began to experiment with methamphetamine manufacture, they also began importing significant amounts of ephedrine from Argentina and arranging for its transportation into Mexico.
The Guzmán-López brothers presently supervise eleven methamphetamine labs in Sinaloa, producing an estimated 3,000-5,000 pounds of methamphetamine every month.
