In November, Deobra Redden, a resident of Las Vegas, entered a guilty plea to a reduced charge of attempted violence causing significant bodily damage after being assessed and determined to be mentally competent to stand trial. According to state records, he was previously incarcerated in Nevada on a conviction of domestic violence.

In a Las Vegas courtroom serving Clark County, defendant Deobra Redden attacked Judge Mary Kay Holthus by throwing himself over her desk, as captured on a new video.

As the judge made it apparent she meant to throw him behind bars and the court martial went to tie him, Redden screamed and pushed forward in an outburst up to the judge.

District Judge Mary Kay Holthus of Clark County fell back from her seat against a wall in a violent scene that was caught on camera. She was hurt, but not hospitalized, according to courthouse officials.

According to the officials and witnesses, a courtroom marshal sustained injuries as well while assisting the judge. He was taken to the hospital for treatment of a gash on his forehead that was gushing and a dislocated shoulder.

At least three others in the courtroom struggled to drag Redden away from the judge, which caused chaos to break out. One of them, possibly a court clerk is seen striking a combative Redden many times.

The defendant was taken into custody and imprisoned at the Clark County Detention Center. There, he was charged with several additional felonies, one of which was battery on a protected person, which included the judge and court employees.
