Tampon maker Procter & Gamble (P&G), the manufacturer of feminine hygiene products and Tampons had a successful ad for their tampon products in 2020. But now the Proctor& Gamble blames Amy Schumer for the shortage of the women’s sanitary item here in the US.
Many popular brands for Tampons are scarce among store shelves due to the global supply chain issues affecting the economy. The company says that is has to run its factory for 24 hours a day to keep up with the high demand because of Amy Schumer’s successful ad campaign with Proctor& Gamble.
The brand wanted to speak more about women’s cycles with their campaign to bring awareness to consumers.
Cheri McMaster, a spokesperson for Proctor& Gamble said, “Demand is up 7.7% since Schumer starred in the series of commercials, seemingly pointing towards how her star power had the desired effect on their sales, but which eventually backfired. “When we chose to focus on tampon and period education, we knew Amy Schumer was a perfect fit because Amy doesn’t shy away from anything,” they had stated in a press release.
