Celebrity football quarterback Aaron Rodgers claims a psychedelic experience in South America was the key to his recent NFL dominance, claiming the ayahuasca plant helped him improve his mental health and have the “best season of my career.” The star appears to have no regrets about his previous relationship with NASCAR driver Danica Patrick.
On Wednesday’s “Aubrey Marcus Podcast,” the Packers quarterback reflected on their two-year relationship and recalled going to Peru together to do ayahuasca – a plant-based psychedelic tea containing the hallucinogenic drug DMT – which he said helped him perform better on the football field because of its mental benefits. It is unclear if Patrick was with him in the concoction experiment.

The Super Bowl champion claims it is no coincidence that he returned from South America and won his next two MVP awards in 2020 and 2021… and is speaking out to alter negative stereotypes about ayahuasca use. The quarterback said that at the time he met Marcus, he was dating Danica, and the relationship was great because she is on her own spiritual journey. They were both finding their way, learning new things and practicing meditation techniques. He said that “the best day of his life” was when he did mushrooms with friends on the beach. Rodgers and Patrick called it quits after two years of dating in July 2020.
The two-time NFL MVP stated that the pair “had an incredible experience climbing Mount Machu Picchu” before immediately entering “an ayahuasca ceremony.” Rodgers stated that the psychedelic gave [him] a deep and meaningful “appreciation for life” during his emotional ayahuasca experience. He claims that his goal for the first experience was to discover what pure love feels like… and it worked.
The celebrity had a magical experience in which he felt a hundred different hands on my body bestowing a blessing of love and forgiveness on himself, as well as gratitude for this life from what appeared to be his ancestors. He claims that a previous experience with mushrooms led him to try ayahuasca, and that as a result, he has a new perspective on life. Rodgers, who will be in his 18th season in Green Bay this season, signed a three-year $150.8 million contract extension in March. In June, he also told reporters that he “absolutely” wants to finish his career with the Packers.
