Atlanta Protesters Arrested after activist- Manuel Esteban Paez Teran killed by police. In recent days, protesters had set up camp on an 85-acre site known as “Cop City” to voice their opposition to the proposed training complex. Authorities attempted to evict the demonstrators from the plot of property on Wednesday, but Teran was shot and died in the process. Seven people in total were detained and accused of domestic terrorism.
Atlanta Police have arrested six people so far, some of whom were carrying explosives. These individuals meant violence and used the cover of peaceful protest to conceal their motives. Our law enforcement teams were prepared and resolved the situation swiftly. Our teams remain on alert and continue to serve the community.

The death of 26-year-old Manuel Esteban Paez Teran, who was shot and killed by police on Wednesday near the site of the new Atlanta Public Safety Training Center after allegedly refusing orders from authorities and firing a gun at state troopers, infuriated protesters.
According to reports, the activist identified as nonbinary, went by the nickname Tortuguita which is short for “small turtle in Spanish. They/its pronouns were used to identify themselves. Protesters waved placards bearing Tortuguita’s name.
