Alphabet’s Google (GOOGL) announced Monday that the tech giant is bringing its AI Gemini to teen students. Students can use their school accounts to learn about AI responsibly and confidently. Educators will also be empowered with new tools to help them create better learning experiences.
CWEB reports that Google announced the integration with Gemini for students, educators, and education communities through Gemini for Google Workspace in its blog and at 2024 ISTE.
Google set up booth 1424 at the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) conference. Many web fans can experience all the new tools that Google’s Gemini will make available to teens, including safety features. Google also introduced a new Chromebook called Chromebook Plus, which has improved Gemini features. Google also said it would not use data from teens’ chats to improve its AI models.
In its blog post, Google said Gemini would be available to teens using Google Workspace for Education in English. It will be free of charge in more than 100 countries worldwide. Onboarding for teens would include an AI literacy video endorsed by ConnectSafely and the Family Online Safety Institute.
Other features include a Learning Coach to help students build knowledge. Students will learn with information taken from trusted sources with OpenStax and Data Commons extensions.
Google hopes Gemini will help students engage in new ways and assess their progress using a video creation application called Google Vids in Google Workspace for Education.
It also introduces Read Along in the classroom, which will help students read with AI at their own pace. Another feature of Workspace for Education includes tailored lesson plans and assignments that consider different students’ needs.
Google offers new video support in other languages, including Arabic, Hebrew, Farsi, and Urdu. Other valuable features include setting grading periods and scales for educators, student information systems (SIS) integrations, expanding guardian access, electronic signatures, better data protection, and more.
