Explosions were reported earlier Monday at two Russian air bases: one near the city of Ryazan, southeast of Moscow, and another in the Saratov region. The explosion at the Engels base in Saratov, which, according to Radio Free Europe, is about 600 kilometers, or nearly 373 miles, from Ukraine, is allegedly depicted in footage shared Monday
Dmitry Peskov, a Kremlin spokesman, told reporters on Monday that the only information he had on the explosions came from media reports and that he couldn’t comment further on the incident.

Saratov Governor Roman Busargin wrote on Telegram Monday that law enforcement was looking into “incidents” at military facilities, noting that information was already spreading on social media and in the media.
“I want to reassure you that no emergencies occurred in the city’s residential areas,” he wrote. “There is nothing to be concerned about. There was no damage to civilian infrastructure.”
Later that day, the Russian Defense Ministry issued a statement in which it blamed the explosions at both bases on Ukrainian drones. According to the statement, Russian air defenses intercepted and shot down the drones as they flew at them.
