Warner Bros Discovery CEO David Zaslav was honored by Hollywood elite late October. A news report recently pointed out that Comcast CEO Brian Roberts was absent at the gathering. Comcast is one among the many who wish to bid for Warner Brothers Discovery (WBD). CEO Zaslav is reportedly looking for a bidding war as multiple companies show interest in acquiring WBD.
Puck news reported Brian Roberts was absent from an important dinner that was held at the Simon Wiesenthal Center. The dinner was held in honor of WBD CEO David Zaslav on October 30. The Los Angeles event saw a huge turnout that included many celebrity and business titans.
Prominent business honchos at the dinner, who are reportedly interested in the acquisition of Warner Brothers Discovery included Paramount Skydance CEO David Ellison and Ted Sarandon from Netflix.
The news agency also reported that Brian Roberts was in Saudi Arabia during the same period. He was reportedly meeting with officials of the Public Investment Fund. The PIF is highly capitalized and many investors hope to benefit from it.
Brian Roberts has expressed interest in buying Warner Bros. Discovery. The New York Post has reported that President Donald Trump favors Paramount Skydance in the WBD acquisition. Zaslav meanwhile, is looking for the highest bid.
Two sources reportedly told Puck that Brian Roberts had met with top officials from PIF. Brian Roberts also reportedly visited Qiddiya, according to the source. This “megacity of play” will house amusement park with Six Flags and Dragon Ball Z themes.
Comcast CEO Roberts appears to have a strong intention to bid for Warner Bros. Discovery but would most probably need a major backer to finance the transaction. David Zaslav is looking for a better deal than the reported $24 offer by Paramount Skydance, according to the Post. Semafor reported that David Zaslav and Brian Roberts had a meeting last week.
