Walmart (WMT) has begun testing innovative technology at a store in Texas. This new technology speeds up the price of goods and improves the shopping experience of web fans. Both fans and associates have responded positively to this innovation, as thousands of web fans shop at Walmart stores for everyday items such as razors, vitamins and minerals, water bottles, jewelry, electronics, home goods, kitchen supplies, and more.
Walmart recently announced expanding its innovative technology, digital shelf labels. The big box retailer plans to implement this innovation in 2,300 stores by 2026.
CWEB reports that Walmart has more than 120,000 products on its shelves. Walmart offers deep discounts, flash deals, and promotions every day. When the giant retailer offers a razor, shaving cream, water bottle, or jewelry item as a flash deal or promotion, digital shelf labels make it easy for associates and web fans to avail themselves of such deals.
According to their site, Vision Group has developed digital shelf labels that allow the retailer’s associates to update prices using a mobile app. This reduces their time and effort, as they no longer have to change paper tags by hand. It also gives them more time to support their web fans in their stores.
Walmart says the new digital shelf labels have increased productivity and reduced the staff’s walking time. Replenishing stock has also become more straightforward, as a feature called Stock to Light exists. Another feature called Pick to Light helps in faster order picking and fulfillment.
