On Friday, Walmart announced that it has launched a new program called Walmart Restored. This refurbishment program was designed to help its customers save money, in newer ways, in addition to the discounts that the giant retailer always offers its loyal customers. It will also reduce waste as products will be refurbished to become like-new ones. The program has debuted online and will be available in select stores in fall 2022.
The giant retailer said that all the products in the Walmart Restored program were professionally inspected. The company also said that the products have also been cleaned and tested. They have a 90-day free return or replacement guarantee.
Walmart has been working with sellers and suppliers who offer refurbished products, earlier as well. However, by launching the Walmart Restored program, the big box retailer will help customers to find such products more easily and also make their shopping experience more seamless.
In a statement, Michael Mosser, who is the general manager of Walmart Marketplace, said that customers have been looking for refurbished products this year and “like-new refurbished products” were becoming an extremely popular method by which costs were cut, “without sacrificing quality.”
The Walmart Restored section in its website has categorized products for its customers to easily find what they are looking for. Some of the categories include
small appliances
sewing machines
televisions
tablets and
computers.
Refurbished products are also categorized according to their brands some of which include
Apple
Samsung
KitchenAid.
The company has limited the suppliers who can provide refurbished products to its customers. Walmart’s website says that it monitors the performance of the sellers so that they would “live up to the highest standards of customer service.”
As inflation woes hit consumers, including many who are Walmart customers, the company has forecast a decrease in the operating income in the second quarter of the year. So, by offering refurbished products, it can help its customers beat some of the inflationary woes as well as increase its turnover and profits.
Michael Mosser also said that Walmart was celebrating the launch of Walmart Restored “with sellers’ promotional pricing on a number of top name brand items” for Walmart customers to get more value. The site said that it was an opportunity for customers to tick off items on their shopping lists “with good as new products” from a wide range of categories.
