Walmart the world largest retailer has always been in the forefront of expanding offerings that will help its huge number of customers. It has recently partnered with Angi (previously called Angie’s List) to offer a wide range of professional home services to its customers. The services will be available across almost 4,000 stores in 50 states of the nation.
Although neither Walmart not Angi have disclosed the financial terms of the partnership, Angi’s services will be offered to the retailer’s customers exclusively for a limited time. There are no other details available from either of the the two companies. The services can be booked online and in-store. There will be a landing page dedicated to Angi on the retailer’s website. It is expected to go live mid-February.
In 2018, Walmart had partnered with Handy to sell both in-home installations as well as assembling services in-store in about 2,000 stores and later the service was expanded online. After the partnership was finalized, Handy was acquired by Angi Homeservices.
In 2021, Oisin Hanrahan, co-founder of Handy, became the chief executive officer of the combined companies. This lead to a relook on the deal as there was scope for expansion. The expansion of services is happening and Walmart will be offering many more services but they will no longer be placed under Handy. Instead, they will be available in a new Angi page on their website.
Some of the services that will be available include
painting
flooring
furniture assembly
transforming outdoor spaces
adding a patio
plumbing
electrical and more.
Walmart customers can expect to get services for about 150 different home projects. Angi has a network of more than 250,000 professionals whose services are available in 50 states of the nation. They undertake about 500 home improvement jobs throughout the nation.
The partnership between Walmart and Angi’s will benefit millions of Americans. They can pick items from Walmart and get installation or home services from Angi’s for different items whether it’s installation of electrical items or furniture as well as home improvements.
