Walmart has announced plans to establish more than 150 stores in the United States within the next five years and renovate 650 existing locations throughout 47 states and Puerto Rico. This expansion is expected to generate employment opportunities for thousands of individuals.
According to a blog post by Walmart U.S. CEO John Furner, the first two stores will be opened in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, and Atlanta, Georgia, this spring. The refurbishment projects will take place over the next 12 months.
“We are completing the construction plans for 12 new projects that we plan to commence this year. Additionally, we are converting one of our smaller locations into a Walmart Supercenter.”
