In order to facilitate “seamless” material movement and enhance uptime, Walmart will use a Swisslog automation solution at their new factory in Valdosta, Georgia, US.
Walmart claims it will be better able to satisfy customer demand for milk after using the automated storage and retrieval system (ASRS). As part of its mission to provide customers with high-quality goods, the company has launched the ASRS to strengthen and improve its supply chain.
In the ASRS, you’ll find five pallet stacker cranes equipped with robots that can palletize and de-palletize, as well as a pallet conveyor system and a small load conveyor. The automation solution is based on the synchronized intelligence of Swisslog’s SynQ software, which offers a flexible platform for warehouse management, material flow, and automation control system capabilities.

To further guarantee the quality, transparency, and freshness of the food supply chain, it offers advanced material flow and inventory management features that permit real-time item tracking and administration.
After partnering with Swisslog to establish its inaugural milk processing factory in Fort Wayne, Indiana, in 2018, Walmart expanded its US milk processing operations to include the Valdosta site.
