According to data from Captify, Walmart–the nation’s largest retailer has also become the company that has shoppers searching its website the most; in order to get the best Black Friday bargains. The new research, as of Friday morning from the advertising technology company, said that the giant retailer had been in the top position for searches for the best deals for Black Friday. Captify tracks more than one billions searches per day from websites around the world.

Walmart searches exponentially increased and the big box retailer took the top spot as the searches for Black Friday discounts increased by 386 percent, when compared with 2021. Amazon was in the top spot in 2021 but not only has it been dethroned by Walmart but it also fell to the fourth spot after Target and Kohl’s, who took the second and third spots.

Shopify said that its merchants were doing well on their online stores. The company said that businesses who were hosted on their platform were pulling in $1.52 million, per minute, on Thanksgiving Day.

The direct to consumer e-commerce platform said that over 7.9 million shoppers had purchased merchandise from a retailer on Shopify, as per data at 12 p.m., on Friday.

The National Retail Federation has projected that holiday sales (November and December) are expected to increase by 6 to 8 percent. Since, there is high inflation, these figures do not indicate high growth. However, there is some growth.

In-store purchases were less than anticipated but that might be due to inclement weather in many parts of the nation. Stores did not see the anticipated crowds on Black Friday but deals continue till Cyber Monday and the crowds might return to stores.

Adobe Analytics said that online sales rose by 2.9 percent year on year. The sales reached $5.29 billion on Thanksgiving Day.
