Walmart, the largest retailer in the United States is now requiring that some they their store and Sam Club locations will require masks for all employees. The mandate by the company is effective immediately. The requirement is also for the areas where state or local mask mandates require it.
The requirement is not just for floor and cashier staff at Walmart and Sam’s Club locations. Walmart employees are now required to wear masks in warehouse facilities, distribution centers and fulfillment centers.
The company said, while masks are not required for shoppers in the store, they are highly recommended.
Walmart decided to bring back the mask mandate for workers after the CDC issued new guidance released this Tuesday. The CDC is now recommending that even people vaccinated for COVID-19 to start wearing masks indoors as required before, especially in areas with increasing and very high transmission of COVID-19,Walmart is giving vaccine incentives to $150 for employees who get the vaccine, up from $75. Walmart does not require vaccines for employees, but rather uses the incentive to do so.
Apple has a similar policy but only fifty percent of its stores require masks. Apple has 270 stores across the United States.
