Hunter Sallis had 20 points and nine rebounds and Ty-Laur Johnson scored nine of his 12 points in the second half to lead Wake Forest over SMU 77-66 on Saturday in Dallas.

The Mustangs (19-6, 10-4 Atlantic Coast Conference) had their five-game win streak snapped. They had won eight of their past nine and three straight at home.

The Demon Deacons (19-7, 11-4) have won four of their past five games.

Wake Forest went on a 7-0 run to build an 11-point lead with 13:44 remaining. Parker Friedrichsen’s steal and fastbreak layup finished the run. He finished with 18 points on 6-of-9 shooting, including 5 of 7 from the 3-point arc.

Chuck Harris led SMU with 15 points while Kario Oquendo (13), B.J. Edwards (12) and Matt Cross (11) also scored in double figures. Oquendo and Cross each added a team-high nine rebounds.

SMU freshman center Samet Yigitoglu was held to four points on 1-of-2 shooting and one rebound in 29 minutes.

The Mustangs went on a 13-0 run to take a 10-point lead early in the first half but only led 34-32 at the break after going cold to end the half.

SMU, which leads the ACC with 82.8 points a game, was held to 36.1 percent shooting from the field. Wake Forest shot 44.4 percent from the field, including 50 percent in the second half.

After coming out hot from the 3-point arc, SMU cooled off from long range. The Mustangs were 8 of 35 from the arc as Edwards (0 for 6), Harris (3 for 10), Oquendo (2 for 9) and Cross (3 for 9) all struggled.

Wake Forest’s Cameron Hildreth and SMU leading scorer Boopie Miller were unavailable because of injuries. Hildreth, who has scored 20 or more points in each of his previous four games, has a foot contusion. Miller was wearing a walking boot on his left foot.

SMU forward Yohan Traore was also unavailable for the second consecutive game with a hip injury.
