Steam Database announced that video game Cyberpunk 2077 has set a new record for simultaneous players in a single game.
Following its launch on December 10, the action-adventure multiplayer game has beaten its allies PUBG, Dota 2, and Counter-Strike. It also tops the Steam’s 2015 record of 472,962 players set by Fallout 4, developed and published by the same company, CD Projekt Red.
On its rollout, reports said that Cyberpunk 2077 had some glitches, especially on player platforms. However, this does not seem to have any adverse effect on its sales. The game has been booked by a whopping 8 million people. This means that the game is a million units ahead of its rival, World of Warcraft: Shadowlands, but definite figures are awaited.
Critics are frowning over the hype created by the game. However, the hype now seems real. A CD Projekt Red developer has tweeted, “Wow. The hype is real.”
