A 10-year-old Milwaukee boy has been charged with first-degree reckless homicide for killing his mother Quiana Mann on November 21. The boy who shot his mother in the face reportedly did so because she refused to buy him a virtual reality set from Amazon. The boy is being charged as an adult.
The family of Quiana Mann has opened up, voicing their opinions amidst their sadness. Lueritha Mann, the boy’s grandmother, voiced her disbelief that her grandson could commit such a crime. However, after the boy allegedly revealed that he killed his mom because she woke him up early morning and would not buy him an electronic device of his choice, she believes that he should “pay for” his misdeed. In a conversation with TMJ4 Milwaukee, she revealed that the boy had a “rage issue.”
According to a criminal complaint, Quiana was shot at close range in the eye at her home, allegedly by her 10-year-old son, who has not been identified publicly. After the shooting, the boy allegedly tried hiding the gun and then revealed to his sister the death of their mother. 911 responded to the sister’s call.
The boy allegedly gained access to the gun locked in a safe with his mother’s keys on November 21, at about 7 a.m. He allegedly told detectives that he pulled the gun because he was angry and upset as his mom had woken him up 30 minutes before time, and would not let him buy the headset of his choice from Amazon.
Rhonda Reid, the boy’s aunt, told the outlet that she did not believe her nephew was capable of violence, but she believes there was a reason for his alleged premeditated murder. The boy is reported to have exhibited “disturbing behavior” since he was four years old. A family member who spoke to investigators stated that little boy talks to “five different imaginary people.” These fictitious people are allegedly two sisters, an elderly lady, and two men.
Meanwhile, his grandmother said that she is unable to bring herself to speak to him, despite the boy’s documented behavioral issues. Not yet, because he took something very valuable from her. The boy is at a juvenile detention facility and is reportedly scheduled to appear in court again next month.
