A dangerous ex-convict has Bruce Whitehead been charged with brutally raping and mutilating a woman in Florida, just months after doctors said he “would not reoffend.” Investigators said he was arrested in Orlando five days after allegedly driving a woman into a wooded area, raping her at knifepoint, and attempting to kill her.
According to an arrest affidavit obtained by the outlet, Whitehead agreed to pay the woman $850 for him to “paint her for an hour,” with the New York Post reporting that he “voluntarily” picked her up around 4 a.m. on Saturday, December 10, “near an Orlando strip club.” According to the report, he forced the victim out of the car while holding a knife to his chin and telling him to lie down in the back seat.
After fleeing the gruesome assault, the woman allegedly sought assistance from passersby in a nearby neighborhood. Whitehead was arrested the following Thursday after an ‘observing resident’ spotted him. According to the OCSO arrest affidavit, the victim was standing with her friends near the intersection of Sand Lake Road and South Orange Blossom Trail when Whitehead approached her. He allegedly claimed that his latest victim was an artist and offered her $850 to paint her for an hour.
He allegedly then severed her clothing and mutilated her body. According to the affidavit, after sexually assaulting the victim, Whitehead began stabbing her multiple times in the chest. People in the area where officers arrested Whitehead revealed that they are relieved to see him back in prison.
According to court transcripts, Whitehead raped a woman in 1986, but he pleaded guilty to aggravated assault charges and served 35 days. Records show that within a week of his release, while on probation, he kidnapped another woman in Jacksonville at knifepoint, assaulting her and stabbing her 25 times.
Whitehead had spent the majority of his adult life in state custody, having served 20 years as part of a plea deal for the 1986 Duval County rape and attempted murder before being labeled a “sexually violent predator” and sentenced to another 15 years in prison. Despite years of therapy and doctors’ opinions that he was no longer a risk, Whitehead is now facing new charges of armed rape, kidnapping, and attempted murder and awaiting a new trial.
