Valkyries set WNBA attendance records in debut season

The Golden State Valkyries announced Sunday they have set multiple WNBA attendance records in their inaugural season.

By selling out all 22 home games at the Chase Center, the Valkyries set the league mark for average attendance (18,064 per game) average and total overall attendance with 397,408 fans.

The Valkyries have two games remaining in the regular season — against the Seattle Storm on Tuesday and the Minnesota Lynx on Thursday — but both games are on the road.

Golden State shattered records set last year by the 2024 Indiana Fever, when Caitlin Clark’s arrival helped the Fever attract 340,715 fans for the year and 17,036 per game.

Two other franchises this year joined the Valkyries in besting the Fever’s total attendance mark. The 2025 Fever (349,313) and 2025 New York Liberty (341,575) are now in the Top 3 as well.

Golden State (23-19) already has clinched a playoff berth. The Valkyries are the first WNBA expansion team to qualify for the postseason.
