All-Star forward Kayla Thornton will miss the remainder the season for the expansion Golden State Valkyries after undergoing surgery on her right knee Friday, the team announced.
Thornton sustained the injury in practice this week.
She recorded career-best averages in points (14.0) and rebounds (7.0) while starting all 22 games in which she has played.
Thornton, 32, contributed 7.6 points and 4.4 rebounds in 296 career games (165 starts) with the Washington Mystics, Dallas Wings, New York Liberty and Valkyries. She was a member of the Liberty’s 2024 WNBA championship team.
