According to Sacramento Valley Crime Stoppers, two USPS mail carriers were robbed at gunpoint in the last week by assailants armed with semi-automatic handguns.
A hooded and masked suspect approached a carrier at the Rivercrest Apartments on La Riviera Drive in Sacramento around 6 p.m. on December 17, according to Crime Stoppers.
According to authorities, the mail carrier thought the suspect was carrying a Glock with a red and white striped camouflage slide. During the robbery, the carrier was unharmed.
According to Crime Stoppers, a second armed robbery of a carrier occurred about 10 miles away on December 20, around 2:30 p.m.
A second Crime Stoppers report stated that two men exited a light grey Dodge Charger on Rinetti Way. One ran toward the mail carrier, holding a black handgun, while another attempted to open the mail truck’s passenger side door.
The Charger was used by both suspects to flee. The carrier was also unharmed in that incident. What was stolen in either robbery was unknown. The Crime Stoppers reports did not say whether the incidents were related or not, but they did say that suspects in such cases in Stockton and the Bay Area will frequently travel to Sacramento as well.
