On Sunday, Senator Charles Schumer asked the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to investigate the energy drink PRIME which was founded by influencers Logan Paul and KSI. The energy drink has a large amount of caffeine that is equivalent to almost two cans of Red Bull and six cans of coke and is popular with young web fans of influencers Logan Paul and KSI.
The New York senator and majority leader of the Senate detailed the ill effects of the highly caffeinated energy drink. He said, “One of the summer’s hottest status symbols for kids is not an outfit or a toy—it’s a beverage. But buyer and parents beware because it’s a serious health concern for the kids it so feverishly targets.”
PRIME advertises itself as a zero sugar and vegan brand. However, its caffeine limits are so high at 200 mg per twelve ounces and that it can affect a kid’s health. Pediatricians have said that caffeine causes anxiety, heart problems, digestive issues, jitters, insomnia and more, at high levels. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that children under twelve should not consume caffeine.
Company representatives of PRIME says that the product is labeled “not recommended for children under 18.” They also say that they also sell another sports drink called PRIME Hydration, and this beverage does not contain caffeine.
Influencer Logan Paul and his team market both PRIME drinks in a similar manner. So, parents might think that they were buying juice for their kids but might inadvertently buy a caffeine laden drink that is detrimental for their children’s health. This drink could be a “cauldron of caffeine” that can affect kids’ health.
Schumer also said, “Because the product is billed as a hydration and sports drink in its other, near-identical form, kids are likely to ingest this stuff with parents being unaware.”

Senator Schumer also wrote, “A simple search on social media for Prime will generate an eye-popping amount of sponsored content, which is advertising. This content and claims made should be investigated, along with the ingredients and the caffeine content in the Prime energy drink.”
The U.K., New Zealand and Australia have banned ENERGY from some schools due to its high caffeine content.
